In Rainbows
Waiting around for my email to let me know it's time to download the new Radiohead album "In Rainbows."
Quite a major coup towards the record industry and rightly about time for something like this to happen and ironically for
the first band to have been a "leaked" band in the times of internet downloads back in 2000 with Kid A. They were the first band to have things let loose and made abundant in the early days of Napster, etc.
So, it makes sense for them to be the first ones to embrace a new process of distribution, shunning the corporate stronghold that has dominated since the beginning of modern popular music (it has also seen to be a great marketing tool, as well).
It also becomes a political statement as only they can pull off.
They also understand the great power of their creative output to allow their listeners to pick a price for what they so obviously want, again democratizing the output and consumption. It's no secret that even a band of their stature were making most money off of tours and not from sales and this will only put the power more in their hands.

Cut out the middleman
Radiohead "In Rainbows" in New York Times
Radiohead "In Rainbows" in Pitchfork
Radiohead "In Rainbows" album site
Genius.
More images coming soon from me. Just back from a trip and taking another quick one for an assignment. More later this week. I still operate in a mostly celluloid context so it takes a bit longer.

Everybody loves music
So after a year or so of doing this, I have decided to join the fray of posting MP3's... Some of you may know that I moonlight as a DJ, and I've avoided the oversaturation of music blogs... Well it's time to mix it up every so often. This is akin to my posting of youtube links that I think are essential a la the KLF.
Let's start with a classic re-edited.
